FAQ’S

  • Why Classical Pilates?

Classical Pilates stays true to the original teachings of Joseph Pilates, focusing on precision and alignment. It offers a holistic approach to movement, promoting strength, flexibility, and mind-body connection. Joseph Pilates’s method has stood the test of time and through consistent practice, you are very likely to achieve lasting results and overall improved well-being.

  • I'm a complete beginner, can I join a class?

Absolutely! Pilates is suitable for anyone and everyone, regardless of age, experience or ability. Our classes are designed to accommodate various skill levels, and I will provide guidance and modifications to ensure a safe and effective experience.

  • Do I need to be flexible to do Pilates?

No, flexibility is not a prerequisite for Pilates. In fact, Pilates can help improve your flexibility over time. It's suitable for all fitness levels, and exercises can be adapted to your current flexibility.

  • What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, fitted clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Avoid excessively loose or baggy attire, as it may inhibit my ability to observe your form. Personally, I prefer to practice without socks so I can maximise the mobility and stability in my feet but it’s not essential.

  • What is the benefit of in-person sessions vs. online sessions?

In-person sessions provide the advantage of direct, hands-on instruction and immediate feedback from your instructor. Online sessions offer flexibility and convenience, allowing you to practice from the comfort of your own space. Both formats are effective; the choice depends on your preferences and schedule.

  • What will I need for an online session?

For an online session, you will need:

    1. A mat

    2. A clear camera view so I can observe your form

    3. Working audio to hear instructions and guidance

    4. A small towel or cushion for added comfort and support during exercises

  • Can I do a session if I’m pregnant?

Yes! Pilates is safe and indeed very beneficial during pregnancy and postnatally. I am pre and postnatally qualified and would advise a 1:1 session so we can work closely together and tailor the class to your needs. Please inquire for more information.

  • How many sessions should I do a week?

The frequency of sessions depends on your goals and availability. For optimal results, many clients aim for 2-3 sessions per week. However, consistency is key, so choose a schedule that fits your lifestyle and allows you to stay committed to your Pilates practice.
